Professional Editing

Professional editing improves the quality of writing and enhances the overall story. For authors who are ready to send a query letter, or self-publish their book, a professional edit will refine their manuscript.

This is one of the best ways of increasing the chances of success.

At Novel Suite we offer three editing services. Proofreading, copy editing, or a combined package of the two.

In addition to this we also provide full manuscript assessments, and early interventions for those who are in the early stages of writing. If you are interested in these services, please click here for more information.

Proofreading

The most basic form of editing is proof reading. It is a final check to correct spelling and grammatical errors.

If you are also investing in a copy edit or other manuscript assessment, it is advisable to send your novel in for a proofread as the last step. This is because the proofreading serves as the final check.

It is highly recommended that if self-publishing, a proofread be carried out. This is the bare minimum investment you should make in your novel.

Copy Editing

Copy editing is a structural edit that focuses on clarity and correctness. First of all, your editor will assess the story for a sense of flow. They will then indicate where either corrections or enhancements can be made.

Next, technical consistency will be checked to ensure spelling, font, hyphenation, numerals and capitals are uniform throughout. There will also be an examination of consistency in the plot, and descriptions of characters and settings.

As a result, your editor will be able to provide advice or recommendations for improvement. A copy edit is the most popular service for aspiring authors.

Combined Package

The two services outlined above are included in this package.

The copy edit will be delivered in the initial phase so this allows the author time to incorporate any necessary changes. Once these have been implemented, the proofreading will be carried out.
